a whole lotta fruit.  

Communion Wines celebrates the abundance of the Great Lakes region through the production of wine and cider. This project was formed in 2020, by four friends who have a long history of collaboration on creative projects in the DIY music scene of Chicago. Our vision for CW is simple; to expand the common definition of wine and create beverages with a uniquely midwestern identity.

We source fruit from vineyards and orchards in western Michigan and northern Indiana. Fruit selection is guided by the mitigation of chemical use in farming practice. Our wines often contain both red and white varieties, blends of hybrid and vinifera grapes, and co-fermentation alongside other fruits: apples, pears, plums, and cherries. We primarily produce Pét-Nat style wines - bubbly, fully dry, often light, juicy, and lower in alcohol content.

The company is based in Chicago, IL, but our production facility is in Hammond, Indiana. We source the majority of our fruit from western Michigan, so it's a tri-state operation bringing together each of the southern shores of Lake Michigan.
